The year 2000 the Lord instilled a vision. Though David Whitfield II was birthed into a very musically inclined family, there was a greater anointing to be delivered through the talents of this dynamic percussionist/director. While diligently laboring and helping to establish different music ministries throughout the greater Metro Detroit Area, David called a group of family members, friends and partakers for Christ to join him in a Whitfield Family & Friends Concert. The concert was held May 18, 2001 at Faith Tabernacle Church in Highland Park, MI. There were 30 energetic, praise-ready young people on fire and eager to minister in song to a congregation of worshippers wailing to received a word from the Lord. Determined for the vision to come to pass, Whitfield Family & Friends traveled to and from ministering to all, mindful to heed the voice of the Lord as to help his children in a world of turmoil. Overcoming obstacles they became David Whitfield & Whitfield Productions. To succumb the inevitable they independently recorded and distributed their 1st live recording “It’s Gonna be Alright”, in May of 2003 and filmed a live video in May 2004. Whitfield Production’s thrive on capturing the hearts of young people. In 2006 they sat out on a journey to Walt Disney World Music Days to minister in Downtown Disney and the Historical Fisk University (Nashville, Tennessee) welcomed them to their 2006 Gospel Homecoming Celebration. In 2009 DWP set out to expand their listening audience and were welcomed to minister at Changing a Generation FGBC under the leadership of Bishop Pauls S. Morton.
In honor of their college students who are subsequently unable to travel, Whitfield Productions hosts an annual Back 2 School Rally and annually participate in a 3-day Summer Outdoor Praise Fest where they distribute educational materials to help with the continued success of young peoples educational needs. The Production’s latest testimonial was to collaborate with and minister to a selective group of young people at The Covenant House of Michigan (a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides hope to homeless, runaway and at-risk youth ages 13-22). Humbly dedicating their lives and gifts to giving God all the Glory and Honor he is yet so deserving, David Whitfield and Whitfield Productions continue to witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
